How do you collect plant seeds from your pot plants?

Question by Mook: How do you collect plant seeds from your pot plants?
I have grown lots of pot plants and have noticed seed pods. I would like to collect my own seeds for next year.

Should I leave the pods on the plant until they dry out or can I pull them off before then?

Wait until the seed pods have dried naturally on the plants – if picked green, the seeds aren’t viable.
