Desert Plants?

I have to pull out my bouganvillias (11 of them)and repalce them with some kind of bushes to avoid the falling leaves and flowers to keep the garden and the pool clean. They are all next to a block fence. Local nurseries just want to sell the most expensive plant I never seen in gardens and not much variety. They will be exposed to full sun.
I would appreciate any suggestion.

the agave style plant which depends where you live if you are in a very warm climate
butterfly bush are great in uk
you should ask the question ? what colours do you like
and then the size the shrub will grow
and the size of the bed that the plant will be placed in
and how much maintainance you want to do
your local garden centre advisor should help
    good luck
